Maroc 12th -22nd July
12th Leeds - Newhaven - Dieppe - France
After loading and catching up with friends on the previous day, I left Leeds early and cruised down to Newhaven, and arrived in plenty of time for the ferry. After getting off in Dieppe at 22:45, I drove down through France until I was tired, pulled over in one of the many splendid service stations, fed, watered and slept.
13th France - Spain
A really long driving day, but loving it, and bar the tolls and refuelling once, stopped only for sleep, food, drink and the toilets. My final rest for the night was around Sevilla.
14th Spain - Morocco
Awake very early, brought tickets and made the port in time for the 07:00 ferry, which didn't turn up until 09:00 and left at 10:30?! Oh well.
Made good time crossing the straits of Gibraltar in a catamaran, held up in customs sorting paperwork and finally around midday hit the toll South to Marrakech. Apart from a new bit of motorway nothing to report and arrived at about 19:00, unloaded and made the campsite by about 21:00 and still 41C, but pleased to have delivered the goods and have another happy customer.
15th/16th Marrakech - Azrou - Chefchaouen - Tetouan
A couple of sightseeing days in this beautiful Country and thankfully a bit cooler in the mountains.
17th Tetouan - Tafira, Spain
Back into Spain and tarifa, not before stocking up on food and some decent Spanish wine and then spent the afternoon chilling on the beach and in the campsite.
18th Tarfia - Tordesillas
An easy drive today, spending some valuable down time on myself and arrived at this lovely historic place, the campsite with pool just 10mins walk away. It was still in the mid 30'sC so just chilled until the evening before walking around the town.
19th Tordesillas - Poitiers, France
A longish but enjoyable day, refuelled before leaving Spain and made Poitiers late afternoon, showered and chilled the rest of the day, fed, watered and just enjoyed the evening.
20th Poitiers - Albert
A shortish driving day, but wanted to visit my Great Uncle's graves, which I did, paid my respects and made the lovely campsite in Albert late afternoon. After a good shower, watered and fed, wandered into this lovely little town. Then back to chill in the evening sun.
21st Albert - campsite nr Dieppe
No hurry today, so visited Albert again, brought some lovely croissants and fresh bread from the local bakers and just dawdled on local roads to and in and out of Dieppe to a campsite and 10mls down the coast. Arrived early afternoon, on an overcast day, but still enjoyable, showered, afternoon nap, fed, watered and went for a stroll, an enjoyable one at that.
And just chillaxed the rest of the evening, and chill was right, it wasn't that warm.
22nd Dieppe - Southampton
Ferry day soon comes about, no hurry today, but up early as normal, packed and sorted out the van. Showered, croissants, 2 mugs of tea and off back to Dieppe, where I wandered about before joining the ferry queue. A pleasant crossing and an easy drive home. 4300+mls @ 46mpg, pleased with that.
