UPDATE: 23/01/16; Well a sad day indeed, no Land Rover, the 110 has been sold, a trip to Corsica is still planned in July but sadly without GRUNT. 8yrs, 92k mls, of which 50k mls was through 20 Countries including Morocco 4 times. Happy memories!!!
04/09/2015; Can't believe it, where's the time gone? It certainly is ONE LIFE and hopefully not too short! Grunt's still going, although feel embarrassed owning her and going no where soon. Hopefully next year.
26/05/14; Another great trip to Morocco, should of gone to the Western Sahara but choose not to, just as well, a week and a bit later the water pump fails, had to be replaced. I would of been in really poo if that was in the WS, how lucky was that, could of been still there!
01/01/2014; Another 6k ml check over and oil/filter change, a winter service and a cam belt change, all done by Keith Gott Land Rovers. Thanks to Chris and the guys there.
31/08/13; Another almost faultless (a minor fuse and a light bulb) drive and Grunt goes through the 200k mls barrier.
9th June; 5yrs since I brought Grunt, she's just gone through the 196k mls barrier, 45k mls driven since I've had her and about 30k mls have been on trips through 18 Countries on the same General Grabber AT2 tyres as was on the Series 111 for the Landy Rally 2007, that's about 60k mls worth, need to change them soon though.
Apart from a few small hiccups, no major disaster yet, she's regularly serviced though. Can't wait for the next trip in August, just love travelling in her.
3rd Nov; Just gone through the 191K mls barrier now, 40k mls since I've had her of which about 60%+ has been on trips. Here's hoping for a few more!
31st May; Another trouble free trip of nearly 3k mls, a lot of switchbacks and climbs and even some low box, all handled in her stride.
March 2012; Still going well, passed the 185k mls now, passed the MOT, some welding needed and a 6k service. 13th November; yet another virtually (flat tyre in campsite) trouble-free short overland trip, this one being 3,211mls, the 110 drove and behaved brilliantly.
01st October; 3,489mls on my last trip, apart a blown exhaust, trouble free. Pushed through the 180k ml barrier now and just had a service for Morocco, thanks to Keith Gott's Land Rovers.
30th May; 25,000mls in her now, of which some 13,500mls have been on trips. Fantastic! Still running the same AT2's, the rears have done about 37k now, although the fronts are down to about 3-4mm, still enough for another trip.
20th April; Yet another virtually trouble free trip, less than a pint of water needed and a rubber axle end cap missing, that's it! 3,336mls most of which in 30C + and some in the 40C +, some long hard days, mountain passes, desert, dirt tracks and motorways, but she breezed it, very pleased!
13th March; MOT passed and full service completed, also some spare parts brought. Thanks again to all at Keith Gott Landrovers. 1st February; still running the same AT2's, the rears have done about 32k now and still enough for another trip. MOT and full service in March.
2nd January 2011; it's here along with further travels, hopefully. 18th December; Again not many miles done recently, just enjoying driving around in the snow.
27th November; where's the year gone!? Not many miles done recently, but we might get a bit of snow, here's hoping.
27th September; Just come back from the Abingdon 4x4 show, most excellent, really enjoyed myself, had great fun marshalling, bbqing and slurping wine, of course! 6k Service carried out, thanks to Chris and John at Keith Gott Land Rovers, not many miles done recently still running AT2's with F 30psi and R 42 psi.
7th August; back from another Pyrenean trip, this one 2,555mls, dirt tracks, mountain passes/cols, gorges, long motorway drives and all in glorious weather along with stunning scenery. Apart from losing less than 1/2 a pint of water, no mishaps. Now booked in for a 6k service; of the 6,000mls since the last service 4,725mls have been on trips abroad through some 9 countries, and some 300+ mls camping in the New Forest, and a camping break in Weymouth. What a great way to see the world!
20th June; Not many miles done recently, still running 32psi and 44psi at the moment on the same Grabbers AT2's, 28k mls on the rears now, pleased with that.
16th May; Back from a trip to the Swiss/Italian Alps, one major service fuse blown, apart from that, no problems, 2,170 miles.
20th March; Passed the MOT with no advisories, after a bit of work. 6k mile service, half shafts, rear flanges, stub axles replaced, tappets adjusted, and some additional work. She now runs smoother and quietier, excellent. Many thanks to Darryl and Chris at Keith Gott Landrovers.
13th March; Booked in for the MOT and some work.
1st February as below. 7th; Tyre change - 2 new spare tyres were put of the front, the front were getting low (about 3mm), so although they can do more mileage, I decided to put the spares on, though this will then mean I'll need 6 new ones in time. I won't buy AT2's though, yes a great tyre in all conditions, but when new they have 12mm tread on a 235/85 16, where as Cooper ST's have 18mm of tread.
1st January 2010; Not many miles done recently, still running 32psi and 44psi at the moment.
8th December; Oils, filter and greases changed.
7th November; Not many miles done recently, 6 months are up next month, so booked Grunt in for an oils and filters change.
19th September; Not many miles done recently, spent a bit time on the chassis and bodywork, a couple changes inside and the odd addition for travelling. Front wheels re-balanced, still running the AT2's on wolf rims, they've done over 22k now, and about half the tread worn (5/6mm), running 32psi and 44psi at the moment.
Of the 11k miles in the last year, about 7k have been abroad.
19th June; Just had a 6k service, and some bits and pieces done.
6th May; Well she made it back; weighing nearly 3 tonnes, 2,450 miles, no oil or water needed, pleased she coped very well. Probably bring the next service forward.
22nd March; Passed the MOT, wohoo! Clutch found to be slipping badly, doh! Clutch replaced, a bit of extra work done, and now ready for her trip to the Pyrenees, hopefully. Many thanks to all at Keith Gott Land Rovers.
15th January 2009; MOT in April, will need some welding for that, and a bit of electrical work to finish off last years jobs.
9th December 2008; A nice 940 mile hop to France in November. Now in for a service and some electrical work.
4th November; Just come back from a short 6 day trip to the Swiss Alps, 1,820 miles, plenty of switchbacks, climbs etc, and some stunning scenery. I was pleasently surprised at which the 110 covered it all, especially the motorway miles. She still needs some tidying, and work to be done.
11th October '08; That's it, she's gone, the old girl has been sold to a really nice Land Rover chap who he loves Series vehicles.
UPDATE 6th July '08: Well, she needed a lot of work, most of it done now by Keith Gott Landrovers, many thanks Gents. Opinion was that the rear shocks were too long; so up to Broxhead Common today with www.tv4x4.co.uk for a bit of testing off-road, had a great day out, inspite of the poor weather. A few unsettling moments, but she handled it all beautifully.
The old girl now has a new mate, a prepped 110 300TDI CSW, needs tidying, service/check-over and some TLC. A very different drive with her coiled springs and power steering.
Needed a fair amount of work on her, to get her up to stratch, most of which I already knew.
