"not all those who wander are lost"
This is an appreciation site for both Land Rovers, and wine. Just an amateur (me), and fun (also for me) site for both Land Rover, and wine lovers. Why? Both are enjoyable, both age well (unlike me), and it gives me a chance to test both. :)
"Land rovers are the best 4x4, they're just poorly put together" Chris Scott Totally agree, sadly!
2021
Still locked down with this chinese virus, thanks. At least I have work, and able to travel around the UK and the EU.
2020
Another trip to Morocco before lockdown in the van, nothing to report but still enjoy travelling this beautiful Country and seeing parts of Spain I haven't seen before.
2019
3 more trips to Morocco in a van, nothing to report but still enjoy travelling. Also a trip to Germany, Holland, Belguim and France.
2018
Jan - A lovely 2 weeks in Morocco, France and Spain. 3 more trips to Morocco in a van, nothing to report but still exciting.
2017
Another 4 trips to Morocco, also, France, Spain, Belguim, Holland, Germany and Switzerland. Nothing really exciting to write about, mostly business road trips and a few days off in Morocco a couple of times. But just love travelling overland, I really see and appreciate it more.
2016 2 further trips to Morocco (yes I know it's in a van but hey ho) in Oct/Nov going through France and Spain, easy relaxing trips, still love driving, especially through these Countries, as Southern England so crowded. Morocco as fantastic as ever, and Marrakech just gets more beautiful.
30th - 09th Aug/September Actual
Yest another 4000+mls over another 10 days in a van to Morocco, still no Landy but loving the travelling.
12th - 22nd July Actual
4300+mls in 10 days to Morocco and returning over 46mpg, not in a Land Rover sadly but in a van, but still never the less quite a trip and loved just cruising the miles and enjoying the experience.
2015 No trips planned, about to launch my own company http://www.lrwfilms.co.uk, so travel plans are on hold at the moment, hopefully go somewhere even for a week or 2 and do some shows.
SAFE TRAVELS TO ALL and a belated Happy New Year
2014 Another stunning year;
05th Sept - 12th Sept Actual
A week in lovely northern France with a mate, visiting some scenic French towns/villages, basically sightseeing - camping - bbq's and French vino, route/plan yet to be decided, but I'm sure it'll be a great trip! Really looking forward to it.
22/04 – 22/05 Actual
Well that was an experience, didn’t get to the Western Sahara, poor weather and local experienced advice solo on the pistes put me off. Just as well because the water pump failed when I should have been in that area, very lucky indeed! However I did some great pistes and saw some new beautiful parts of Morocco, so a great trip in spite of the breakdown. 3,780mls
17/01/14 - 31/01/14 Actual
My first winter camping trip comes to an end, but my love for skiing is renewed and I’m so pleased that Le Grand Bornand village and ski area was as stunning as I’d hoped. 1,030mls
2013 Another stunning year;
Fly/Drive; Las Vegas and surrounding areas.
Corsica, which has to be one of the most beautiful and varied places in the world. It has stunning mountains, lakes, beaches, pretty ports, some great vineries, gorges, tunnels, forests, bridges, pretty villages, nice towns, some great driving roads and dirt tracks. 2,718mls
Morocco; mountain passes, dirt tracks, bizarre sculptures, lakes, desert, busy cities, hectic traffic, glorious sunny weather and meeting some great Moroccan people. 3,280mls
2012 Really lucky again, love Tuscany and Portugal!
Northern Spain and Portugal. Another lovely trip! I love Portugal, the mountains, the lakes, the villages and towns, the dirt tracks which are everywhere, the people, it’s a great Country. 1,554mls.
Tuscany, Italian riveria and French Alps, across to Rimini, cut across through San Marino into the Tuscany area, zigzag my way up this glorious wine region, hit the Italian riveria, over the Alps and visit the WW1 graves on the Somme. 2,979mls Another great trip, some fantastic sights, tasted some great wine, met some really nice people and Grunt drove faultlessly. Now then; Glass of wine, plans for northern Spain and Portugal, and off we go again.
2011 Really lucky this year, Morocco twice and Croatia;
Morocco; Well that was a trip! What a country Morocco is; outstandingly beautiful, deserts, forests, good tarred roads, great dirt tracks, awesome mountain passes, stunning lakes, lush green valleys, it's got it all! Friendly, sunny, cheap, and easy to get around, thoroughly enjoyed it!
Dalmatian Coast; Well, a true driving, holiday! Down through France, into Germany, across Switzerland, Austria and onto Italy and the stunning Italian Dolomites, onto the glorious and unspoilt Solvenia and the stunning Croatian coastline. A truly relaxing holiday up the Dalmation coast, short miles, great campsites, stunning unspolit coastline and towns, equals sightseeing, eating and drinking, swimming and cheap, along with glorious sunshine!
Maroc 2; Well, another excellent trip, cut short on some pistes because of the weather, but my love for Morocco and Northern Spain grows. Some awful weather, some glorious sunshine but with stunning mountains, forests and beaches.
Libya/Tunisia on hold now due to the current and ongoing situation (03/03/11 Great News! Moroccan/Algerian bordercould be open again soon! 01/01/12 doesn't even look close sadly), also want to try and travel further afield, possibly into the Artic Circle, the former Eastern bloc or the Dalmatian Countries (made Croatia, stunning, just go!). :)
2010 A wonderful and enjoyable, albeit a testing trip to the Swiss/Italian alps, through France, taking in Germany, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. And a stunning return trip to the Pyrenees, but this time, glorious sunshine and long light evenings; Calais - St Amand Montrond - Carcassonne- Andorra - Spanish Pyrenees - Ainsa - French Pyrenees - Pauillac -Sees - Calais.
2009 That came and went far too quick; A marvellous trip to the Pyrenees in Easter, camping in the New Forest a number of weekends thoughout April-October, 5 days camping in the IOW in late November/Dec and a short hop to Honfleur in France to stock up on wine. Libya is now proposed until 2010/11 due to others pulling out, such is life!
2008 Was quiet due to the purchase of the 110; a short trip in March, an even shorter one in June, and a very pleasant trip to the Swiss alps in October and a fine enjoyable short hop to France in November.
2007 Has come and gone, and with it, my first 2 overland trips, albeit brief ones, the LandyRally and a Wine and Alp tour. I shall endeavour to try to update the site on a regular basis, and add any travelog when I'm able to, though can't guarantee it will exciting, nor informative. :)
But hey, "ONE LIFE, LIVE IT"Land Rover owners motto
